Brief description

Ubiwhere Urban Platform focus on  understanding how external factors (such as the weather, location of points of interest or the time of the year) affect the way people move, by analysing anonymised historical booking data (from public transportation and vehicle sharing systems) and correlating it with these external conditions.

Our hypothesis is that by making mobility operators and decision-makers more aware of the current status of their operations (such as understanding whether they should reinforce a specific bus line at a given time of the day) we will surface costs, inefficiencies and pain points in their mobility management solutions that they are not able to detect or resolve efficiently. If this is true, we will be able to attribute potential returns to our system, incentivising early adoption. The Mobility-Backend-as-a-Service (MBaaS) web platform, already capable of collecting, processing  and allowing open access to real-time and historical datasets related to urban mobility, as well as intelligent services, will allow Ubiwhere to extend its customer list with a new city service provider, bridging the gap with public transportation operators.

Main Features

The integration of a business intelligence solution for the application, optimisation and validation of algorithms for mobility use cases; the successful integration and validation of the relevant datasets provided by Deutsche Bahn for the current challenge, through a new web dashboard showcasing analytics and other reports, using the Ubiwhere web platform for urban mobility Mobility Backend-as-a-Service (MaaS).

The main features developed are:

  • Intelligent services APIs
  • Making the bridge between City Service Providers and Citizens
    • Improving Mobility with different use cases (logistics, public transit, on-demand, etc.)
    • Creating a Mobility Ecosystem for the city
  • Supports processing and storage of historical and real-time datasets
  • Seamless integration with existing infrastructure (traffic lights, panels, kiosks, vehicles, etc.)
  • Ultimate Goal of providing a unified vision of mobility
  • Real-time and historical data APIs
  • Intelligent services APIs
  • City data integrated typically via SDKs
  • Machine Learning component, where analytics and machine learning jobs run to extract the necessary knowledge from the incoming harmonised data;

This solution includes open, interconnecting Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for real-time data and services so that web and mobile applications can showcase these innovative features in well-crafted, responsive layouts. On top of the platform, a web dashboard will be provided to demonstrate the information visually through usage and recommendation reports. This component provides centralised dashboards and enables custom queries to the data available in the platform (concretely the geographic database) Furthermore, our system stands out from our competitors by crossing information from different systems and domains.

Areas of Application

Urban Mobility, Smart Cities, Telecommunication

Market Trends and Opportunities

Urban population has been growing and cities worldwide are facing diverse challenges to find the right balance between urban development needs and global environmental changes. With the goal of improving citizens’ quality of life, Ubiwhere has been focused on addressing smart cities challenges through the continuous development of mobility and environment management innovations.

But also the Telecommunications’ industry is always changing. New improvements are found and interesting opportunities are raised for service providers. With our focus always on the customer’s and society needs, our portfolio includes a wide variety of products, services and SaaS for the Telecom and Future Internet areas. Our outstanding results can be happily seen all over the world.

Customer Benefits

The Urban Platform provides municipalities with a global and integrated view of their cities, presenting data from various domains, such as traffic, air quality and waste collection.

This information, presented in a single control panel, allows municipalities to obtain the data needed to make informed and targeted management.

In this way, they can ensure that the decisions taken are well-founded and provide empirical reports on their impact.Scalable new means of importing data from multiple sources allows Ubiwhere to quickly set up new instances of its solutions for mobility, smart cities and industry 4.0

Technological novelty

Microservice responsible for data collection, processing, harmonising and storage (Extract-Transform-Load operations), this will provide scalable new means of importing data from multiple sources allows Ubiwhere to quickly set up new instances of its solutions for mobility, smart cities and industry 4.0. A centralized dashboard is available that enables custom queries to the data available in the platform. This module allows for a quick setup of dashboards which can be customised per role, user or instance, easing the process of data validation and analysis for multiple sources of information. Moreover a machine learning component, where analytics and machine learning jobs run to extract the necessary knowledge from the incoming harmonised data, is available. In this way the data analysis framework allows Ubiwhere to prototype, test and validate KPIs and allowing its solution to compare off-theshelf with other sets of information as soon as they are integrated into the platform (such as weather conditions, nearby points of interest, cultural events, accidents and other urban interventions).
